Committee to unveil Lubbock Tornado Memorial Gateway design, $1 million in donations

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock Tornado Memorial Gateway Committee will unveil its project design and lead gifts that will fund the project dedicated to the victims of the May 11, 1970 Lubbock tornadoes.

This new memorial will be located on a piece of City of Lubbock property at Avenue Q and Glenna Goodacre Boulevard, according to a United Supermarkets news release. The project will commemorate the lives of the more than 20 people who died after two tornadoes tore through the city.

The unveiling will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday inside the Primitive Social Building at 905 Ave. K.
