LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Coach Beard likes having older and experienced players on his roster and on Saturday afternoon - the 2019-2020 Red Raiders just got a little older.
T.J. Holyfield, a 6-8 grad-transfer from Stephen F. Austin announced on Twitter that he had picked Texas Tech.
Last season, Holyfield red-shirted because of an injury.
But, in 2017-18, he averaged 12.9 points while shooting 54.8 percent for the Southland Conference Champions.
That same season, the Red Raiders got the chance to see Holyfield up close, when they played Stephen F. Austin in the NCAA Tournament, back in March of 2018.
"The journey continues in Lubbock! I'm happy to announce I've committed to the 2019 Big 12 Champions! Excited to be a part of the Red Raider family and ready to get back on the court again!" Holyfield tweeted.
Holfield had also considered Kansas, Oregon, Illinois and Miami in his final top five.
