Body discovered in pond at Plainview golf course

Body found in pond identified Monday evening

PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) - Plainview Police and the Lubbock Fire Department dive team pulled a body from the pond at the Plainview Country Club golf course Monday afternoon.

The body, a Hispanic man, was discovered just before 2:00 p.m. Monday by members of the Wayland Baptist University golf team walking the course during their practice.

The course is closed to the public on Mondays. The body was discovered in the pond, located in the middle of the course.

The LFR dive team was able to pull his body out just before 5:30 p.m. Police identified the man as Victor Manuel Alvarez Jr. of Plainview.

Alvarez was reported missing on Saturday by family members.

Hale County Justice of the Peace Sheron Collins ordered an autopsy to be performed by South Plains Forensic Pathology on Tuesday in Lubbock.

The incident remains under investigation.
