Lubbock Fire Rescue reminds citizens of city fireworks laws leading up to Memorial Day

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock Fire Rescue wants to make sure citizens are aware of City ordinances before celebrating Memorial Day weekend.

LFR sent out a press release to remind people that possessing, selling, storing or using fireworks inside City limits is prohibited under City of Lubbock Code of Ordinances Article 10.08.

Under City of Lubbock Code of Ordinances Article 10.08, any illegal fireworks in the City limits can be seized and individuals in violation may be issued fines up to $1,000.

The Public Information officer for Lubbock Fire Rescue issued this statement Tuesday:

Memorial Day is for remembering and honoring persons who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. On behalf of the men and women of Lubbock Fire Rescue we honor and remember all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

As you are celebrating this Memorial Day Lubbock Fire Rescue along with Lubbock Fire Marshal’s Office would like to remind everyone that the possession, sale, storage, or use of fireworks inside the City of Lubbock is prohibited. City of Lubbock Code of Ordinances Article 10.08 references that fireworks can be seized and fines up to $1000 can be issued to the individual possessing, selling, storing, or using fireworks.
