LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock Police Department has been called to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Kent Street, in northeast Lubbock, after a body was reportedly found in a field.
This was called in just after 9 a.m. after someone walking near the area said there was a body in a field. Police say the body has been there for a while and in an advanced state of decomposition, which is why they are unable to determine the sex or age of the person.
Authorities are looking into their missing person’s database to see if this could be a person on that list.
“We don’t know if this is a natural death or if this is going to be a homicide,” Captain Ray Mendoza, with LPD, said. “So that’s all right now, we investigate all deaths in the city of Lubbock, and so anything that happens outside of hospitals, so we’ll handle this as a homicide until further notice.”
