UPS truck fire causes morning traffic backup on South Loop

UPS driver safe after fire

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A UPS truck is destroyed after a fire broke out inside of it around 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, on South Loop 289.

The incident happened in the westbound lanes near the University Avenue exit.

Flames erupted from the vehicle, damaging its contents and the entire top side of the truck. Fire crews arrived to help put out the blaze.

UPS says the driver is fine.

There is no word on what caused the fire. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
