Five injured in major crash in 5200 block of South Loop

Traffic backed up by serious crash, Loop 289 & Slide Road

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock police are investigating a major crash that injured five people on Friday afternoon.

Police say it happened in the 5200 block of South Loop 289 around 4:41 p.m.

They say a 2003 Buick LeSabre was traveling eastbound on the access road when it left the roadway and collided with a tree on the south side of the access road.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20 year old male, sustained serious injuries and was taken to UMC. Four other passengers in the vehicle sustained moderate to minor injuries.

Crash investigators are looking for a newer model red Chevrolet dually pickup pulling a trailer that was in the vicinity at the time of the crash and may have information relevant to their investigation.
