LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Stop, Collaborate and Listen, Vanilla Ice put on a halftime show for the Red Raiders game Saturday against Iowa State.
Attorney Davis Smith has known the artist for around 20 years and is bringing him to Lubbock for the performance.
“I’ve got people texting me from numbers I don’t recognize. A lot of people are excited. I’ve seen a lot of positive feedback from the community. We’re really excited about it,” Smith said. “He can sing and dance, he’s amazing. Born to perform.”
Smith expects everyone to have a good time tomorrow.
“We don’t get a lot of celebrities here in Lubbock, so when someone comes in, everybody gets really excited,” Smith said. “It brings more action and energy for the Red Raiders and Coach Beard, it’s a wonderful program. With our basketball program, it is not hard to get people to come to a basketball game.”
Smith says that the rapper will play his most popular hit song from 1989.
“He’s absolutely promised me that he’s going to sing Ice Ice Baby.”
Davis says that he has other stars he’s hoping to bring to the Hub City such as Rick Flair and Dennis Rodman. Davis has brought both of them before.
The game against Iowa State starts at 3 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena.
