LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Lubbock Fire Department responded to a fire around 8:55 a.m. in the 1900 block of 15th Street in the South Overton area.

Lubbock Fire Rescue provided an update on the fire, saying firefighters were en route to training at the Pete Ragus Center, when they noticed smoke and responded.

Upon arrival, responders found the rear garage structure heavily involved. Two adults were found to be living in the structure without the owner’s knowledge.

LFR says the two adults were taken to a local hospital for burn injuries, their condition is unknown at this time.

Crews were the scene have blocked off some of the roads while responding to the scene. They quickly extinguished the fire, limiting the damage to the initial involved structure.

City of Lubbock Code Enforcement was called to the scene, with the Fire Marshal’s Office and the owner of the building, and determined the rear garage needed to be demolished.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
