Some LISD staff eligible for COVID-19 vaccination on Monday

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock ISD is offering a limited number of COVID-19 vaccinations to employees on Monday, prioritizing special ed teachers, employees 65 and older, and those who are not required to wear masks in class.

The vaccine is optional, but any employee wanting an appointment must sign up by 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The vaccinations will be conducted Monday at the Lubbock Civic Center, with specific times set aside for each elementary school campus.

These vaccinations are only being offered to employees. Family members are not eligible at this time.

LISD issued this list of eligible employees on Saturday:

PreK through third-grade teachers who work with students not required to wear masks in class

SPED teachers who work with students receiving special education services in self contained classrooms

All Lubbock ISD employees who are age 65 and older

All Lubbock ISD employees with a CDC-defined comorbidity

Comorbidities are defined as: cancer, uncontrolled diabetes, COPD, uncontrolled asthma (severe), uncontrolled hypertension, severe or uncontrolled autoimmune diseases.

All additional Lubbock ISD employees and employees of Aramark, ECI, Durham, and Sodexo who work in conjunction with the district will be added as more vaccine doses become available.

Lubbock ISD employees are encouraged to check their email for scheduling and sign up details.
