LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - We’ve been dealing with strong winds since Tuesday night, tied to a powerful storm system that produced a blizzard over the Panhandle on Wednesday morning and is driving a severe outbreak in the Deep South.

There was sideways blowing snow observed in the same locations that had a tornado just days ago. Here are some of the top gusts today from the Texas Tech Mesonet:

White River Lake 66mph

Reese Center 64mph

Aiken 61mph

Plainview 61mph

Abernathy 60mph

Ralls 60mph

Hart 59mph

Turkey 59mph

How windy is it in Lubbock today? This windy!

TONIGHT: Still breezy this evening then the wind dropping off significantly after Midnight. Low near 30, clear.

TOMORROW: Sunny and not much wind, high near 62. Wind N/NE 5-15mph.

FRIDAY: Another freeze to start the morning, afternoon low 60s, sunny.

LOOKING AHEAD: The afternoons will be a little breezy this weekend, both days up near 70. We are watching a chance for showers early next week, but nothing promising at this point. It’ll probably turn a little cooler middle of next week.
