McCombs leaving Lockney after one season

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - After one year as Lockney’s Head Football Coach/Athletic Director, Cory McCombs tells me he is leaving to become the Head Football Coach/AD at Anson.

McCombs tells me it was a family decision. His wife is from Anson.

McCombs spent the first 11 years of his coaching career at Anson. He was an assistant for two years and was the Defensive Coordinator for nine years.

McCombs went 7-4 at Lockney and led them to the playoffs. He loved his time at Lockney.

“It’s a special place. The superintendent and everyone here is top of the line.”

We wish Coach McCombs and his family the best.
