LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Our warming trend continues through the weekend with highs in the 80s/90s and an abundance of sunshine.

Weekend forecast
Weekend forecast(KCBD)

Another cooler start to the day with temps this morning in the 30s and 40s. Sunrise today at 7:42 am, once that sun is up we will quickly warm things up for the day. Expecting clear, sunny skies and afternoon highs in the upper 70s to upper 80s. Winds will be relatively light throughout the day from the southwest 5-10 mph.

Warmer overnight tonight with clear skies and breezy winds. Lows in the 40s and 50s with winds from the south around 15 mph.

A bit more of a breeze tomorrow, but still lighter winds than we saw this last week. A breeze from the southwest around 10-15 mph, edging closer to 20 mph at times. Partly cloudy skies tomorrow with even warmer afternoon highs. It will start to feel hot in the afternoon with a high of 90 degrees in Lubbock. Could we see our first 90-degree day since October?

If we do not reach 90 on Sunday we likely will Monday, a high of 92 with partly cloudy skies and breezier winds. Those winds will bring in some change for our workweek as our next storm system moves in.

Right now, we have the possibility for some severe weather Tuesday afternoon and evening as a dry line moves off of the Caprock. This could generate some showers/storms with the chance for some of these storms to become severe. More details on the potential for severe weather along with the timing and location will come in the days to follow. We are confident that everyone will see strong winds return Tuesday and Wednesday with areas of blowing dust in the afternoons. Temps will briefly cool down as well as a cold front pushes in behind the dry line overnight Tuesday. Temperatures will top out in the 60s for the rest of the workweek.

Until then, have a great weekend and spend some time outdoors in the sunshine!
