Warmer to end the weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - One more warm, quiet day before winds return to bring change for the workweek.
A warmer start to the day today with temps in the 40s and 50s. Expecting a warmer afternoon for most of the South Plains with highs ranging from the 80s to mid-90s. Plenty of sunshine throughout the day, some upper-level clouds will move in. A bit more of a breeze this afternoon with winds from the southwest 10-15 mph.
Mild again overnight with another warm afternoon tomorrow. Highs similar to today with more cloud cover moving in tomorrow afternoon. Winds will be a bit stronger coming from the southwest from 10-20 mph. Fire weather watches and warnings will likely be in effect tomorrow as we remain dry and breezy.
Cooler Tuesday as a front creeps into the area. We are watching for the potential for severe weather Tuesday evening and overnight. This will be mainly off of the Caprock as a dry line forms and pushes east. Any storms that develop in this area have the potential to become severe with damaging wind and hail as our main concerns. Otherwise, Tuesday will be dry and windy with sustained winds between 20-35 mph, gusts upwards of 50 mph possible.
Slim chance for a shower or two Wednesday, non-severe, behind the cold front that pushes through overnight. Most of the area will remain dry but about a 20% chance at any one location for a shower. Wednesday will be cool and windy, high of 66 with winds from the north around 20 mph.
