ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - First responders worked all day on a recovery mission after officials say a man drove his car over a cliff.
The recovery took place at the Lookout Point Picnic Site near Claude.
Crews with the Canyon Fire Department, Claude Fire and EMS, The Texas A&M Forest Service, the Randall County Fire Department and Game Wardens assisted with the recovery.
Armstrong County Sheriff Melissa Anderson said officials believe a pickup truck with a man inside went off the edge of the cliff.
Around 50 people worked to get to the car, including crews who rapelled down the cliff side.
Sheriff Anderson said the cliff is about a 500-foot drop and rescuers had to use ATVs and cross private property to reach the truck.
The recovery operation began around 8:30 a.m. and came to an end around 4:00 p.m.
