LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Three Rotary clubs in Lubbock are helping provide some much-needed support to the South Plains Food Bank.

Greater Southwest Lubbock Rotary Club, Metropolitan Lubbock Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Lubbock gave a combined $40,000 to the “Grub Farm” on 76th Street east of Interstate 27. The funds will be used to provide a second water well and high tunnel coverage.

The Food Bank uses the farm to provide fresh and nutritious produce for the people it serves.

Adam Mulsow, who manages the farm, said this contribution comes at an important time.

“The struggles we’ve had over the past few years, as far as really hot, dry summers and the old well that hasn’t really kept up with the water needs,” Mulsow said. “Having this well now will completely change that.”

The Grub Farm is also an important educational tool for local schools. Volunteers and classes work the farm, to learn about agriculture and public service.
