RMHC of the Southwest to receive 25 cents for every Shamrock Shake sold through Mar. 23
LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - You can grab a Shamrock Shake and support a good cause through Mar. 23, with 25 cents going to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest for every shake sold.
McDonald’s and its franchisees have supported Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) since its founding on Oct. 15, 1974. In fact, sales from a local Shamrock Shake promotion helped to open the very first Ronald McDonald House.
The mission began when the daughter of a Philadelphia Eagles player was being treated for Leukemia. Together with a local McDonald’s Owner and Operator Hal Rosen, McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Eagles, the family raised enough funds through Shamrock Shake sales to help open the first Ronald McDonald House as a way to support families during their child’s healthcare journey.
Dr. Audrey Evans, a pioneer in pediatric oncology, played a crucial role in establishing the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. Her vision continues to inspire our mission today.
Since then, RMHC has grown into a global organization with over 1,000 programs in more than 60 countries and regions around the world, supporting millions of families every year.
The charity says 100% of donations will support RMHC and its network of local Chapters associated with each restaurant.
