CROSBY COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) - Two women died in Crosby County Saturday night after they were struck by a pickup truck on a County Road.

DPS says the driver stopped, the occupants got out, and some kind of fight broke out, causing the driver, 49-year-old Luis Alejandro Poot-Sosa of Lorenzo, to leave the other three people on County Road 105, just south of County Road 118, around 9:30 p.m.

Poot-Sosa returned to retrieve the occupants and collided with two of the pedestrians, who died at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as Yrma Linda Reyes-Chavez, 52, of Lorenzo, and Irene Ramirez-Reyes, 60, of Lubbock.

A third pedestrian, Sergio Torres, 49, of Levelland, was not injured.

Poot-Sosa was assaulted by the family of the deceased and was transported to University Medical Center-Lubbock with serious injuries.

On Monday, Poot-Sosa was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and on an Immigration Customs Enforcement detainer.

On Wednesday, he was transferred to the Crosby County Jail on two charges of intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle and on the ICE detainer.

His bond is still set at $500,000.
