TxDOT begins $695K intersection lighting and safety project across Lubbock District

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Work is underway this week on a nearly $700,000 Texas Department of Transportation project aimed at upgrading lighting and improving safety at seven intersections across the South Plains.

The $695,678 project spans four counties in the TxDOT Lubbock District:

• Lubbock County: FM 1264 & FM 2641 (Regis Street), US 84 & 98th Street, US 84 & CR 3100 (Posey), and US 84 & FM 1585
• Crosby County: US 62/82 in Ralls
• Yoakum County: SH 214 & FM 213
• Gaines County: SH 214 & CR 206

“Impact to traffic will be minimal,” said Jennifer Davidson, P.E., TxDOT Lubbock District Director of Transportation Operations. “Most of the work will take place off the shoulders and will require various daytime shoulder closures, but minimal main lane closures are possible.”

Officials remind drivers to stay alert, reduce speed when entering active work zones and watch for crews and equipment working near traffic lanes.

Weather permitting, construction is scheduled for completion later this year.
