Jakob joined the CBS7 news team in July of 2018 as a reporter, and was promoted to sports anchor in August of 2019, and sports director in July 2020.
The Texas Association of Broadcasters awarded Jakob "Best Sports Story" and "Best Sportscast" in 2023. Jakob is the most experienced sports anchor and reporter in the Permian Basin. He loves high school football, and anchors CBS7's weekly recap show, "Friday Night Blitz."
In addition to the countless playoff games and college signings, Jakob has covered major news stories like the 2019 Midland-Odessa mass shooting, COVID-19 Pandemic and severe weather.
Jakob spends almost all his time away from work with his wife Amanda and their two dogs.

Born in Wisconsin, Jakob’s family moved to Georgetown, Texas when he was young and has lived there ever since. Although still loyal to the Packers and Badgers, he considers himself a Texan.
Jakob graduated from Baylor University in May 2018 with a degree in journalism and a minor in communication. In Waco, Jakob reported and wrote for The Lariat student paper and co-founded the student-run Baylor Lariat Radio. On radio, Jakob did live play-by-play broadcasts of Baylor football and basketball games, and co-hosted a weekly sports talk show.
During his time at Baylor, Jakob had the opportunity to intern for a summer at KXAN in Austin. He also spent a semester in New York City as an intern for CBS Sports, where he worked events like the Big Ten Tournament and Final Four.
