Plainview became a Main Street city in 1981 and, aside from a couple of years, has remained one since then. The city was one of the first five Texas cities to be considered a Main Street City and is one of 89 Texas cities to receive this distinction.
Remember the days of overhead projectors? They were in every classroom. Wayland Baptist University saved all of those clear, plastic sheets, also known as transparencies. It is a good thing they saved them, because they have now become useful in the fight against COVID-19.
Right outside of the Fair Theatre in Plainview, you will find the the Downtown Plainview Walk of Fame. The sidewalk with black stones features Plainview natives that have gone on to achieve national and international success.
