LUBBOCK, TX (KBCD) - The Lubbock Fire Marshal's Office wants to remind residents that it's illegal to burn inside the city limits. This comes after a control burn got out of hand on Thursday.
A man was trying to clean up a yard when he started a fire to burn tumbleweeds and brush. Dry conditions and the wind caused the fire to get out of control, catching a fence on fire and damaging a light pole. The man was issued a citation for burning inside the city limits without a permit, a Class C misdemeanor. He could face a maximum fine of two thousand dollars.
If you're trying to get rid of tumbleweeds, the City suggests you break them down and place them in your dumpster.
