Salmonella outbreak found in grounded turkey

Public health officials are looking into a multi-state salmonella outbreak believed to be related to eating ground turkey. Investigators with the Centers for Disease Control say at least 77 people nationwide have been sickened, and one person has died.

Ground turkey is believed to be the source of the salmonella, but so far there is no word on a brand, and there is no recall. It's not even clear why the CDC is making this public now since it says they've been following various cases linked to ground turkey since March.

We can't offer you much on this yet, except that the CDC says it is important, as always, to thoroughly cook turkey and all meat to drastically reduce your chance of getting food poisoning.
