LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Tonight, KCBD NewsChannel 11 is looking into some disturbing videos that have been posted to YouTube that show local girls fighting.

These videos have now raised concerns with parents and school officials.

These videos show a group of middle school girls watching, and even encouraging, a fight between two of them.

There are several of these posted on the Internet. Tonight we get the story behind them.

Laura Lavato is the parent of a 7th grader at Smylie Wilson.

Lavato says girls are being pressured into fighting their own friends. Some videos show fights happening in school restrooms. Others show the same group of girls fighting in a Lubbock park.

Lavato says her daughter was forced to fight her best friend in the locker room last week and when she brought it up with the principal: "He said they had been taking care of it," Lavato said. "That they had known that there was fighting going on and they had adults in the restrooms during passing period. But there wasn't an adult in the locker room."

LISD Superintendent Dr. Karin Garza says they have had only two of these fights at this middle school since the school year started and no one was hurt. But they are now monitoring the restrooms as a precaution.

Coming up tonight at 10, we show this video to a local expert. We'll tell you what she says is really going on behind the scenes that causes these fights and what can be done to keep your kids from doing the same thing. It's advice every parent should hear, tonight at 10 p.m.
