LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The body of a woman was found at the scene of a fire at the Autumn Ridge Apartments at 82nd and Avenue U on Friday night. A resident of the complex, Austin Olen Hasten, 22, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder.

He is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center, being held on a $3 million dollar bond.

The victim has been identified as Michele Lisa Terry, 51, of Sandia, Texas.

Hasten, a Texas Tech student, lived just two doors down from the victim.

Fire investigators entered the apartment to deal with the smoke and flames and noticed signs of trauma on the body.

Police say Hasten approached them at the scene and attacked officers before his arrest, attempting to grab an officer's gun during the struggle.

Lubbock police Sgt. Jonathan Stewart said, "As our officers were on the scene beginning the investigation and trying to just sort through what was going on, they were approached by a man. The man ended up attacking one of the officers and was taken into custody."

And this isn't the first time Hasten has tangled with police. WTAW in College Station reports that Hasten was accused of giving a police officer a black eye during an arrest in 2011.

The report says Hasten was accused of causing three crashes and injuring two people after consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms and crashing a truck into an apartment building.

KCBD will continue to update this story as details become available.
