LAMESA, TX (KCBD)
A Lamesa woman is recovering after police say a man stabbed her multiple times at her home on Sunday night.
32-year old Leonard Lopez was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say it happened in Lamesa near 4th Street and North Avenue.
Neighbors tell KCBD that 27-year old Iris Lucio was stabbed by Lopez, her ex-boyfriend, while her young son watched in horror. Neighbors say Lopez frequently harassed Lucio at her home in Lamesa, but that this time, it turned violent.
Lucio was taken to UMC, where her family says she is recovering and will be okay.
Lopez is in the Dawson County Jail. Investigators say more charges could be filed.
