EXCLUSIVE: Warrant reveals prescription drugs taken from Medina homes
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Warrant information obtained exclusively by KCBD reveals exactly what authorities were looking for when they searched two Medina family homes on Feb. 21.
The warrant says they were searching for:
"Prescription pill bottles with the prescriber being Erik Medina. Any drugs or dangerous drugs not obtained legally. Prescription scripts, prescription pads, prescription receipts from pharmacies, prescription insurance records, receipts, cellular phones, phone records, computers, and hard drives."
The documents, provided by District Attorney Randall C. Sims with the 47th Judicial District, reveal that law enforcement confiscated a variety of drugs and pill bottles, mostly antibiotics, some of which were labeled with the names of family members.
Last week, a source told KCBD that Erik Medina was suspected of practicing medicine without a license.
Police say this investigation started after they found evidence of another possible crime while investigating claims of sexual assault made against Sam Medina, but Sam's attorney says Sam Medina is not the target of this new investigation.
No charges have been filed in either case as of Friday evening.
