Lubbock police searching for suspects in 49th Street shooting

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Police are searching for two suspects accused of shooting two men around 2 a.m. on Friday, leaving one of them dead in Central Lubbock.

Officers were on another call, at the Econo Lodge, at 4801 Avenue Q when they heard shots being fired.

Moments later, police received a call about a shooting at a home in the 1800 block of 49th Street.

Officers arrived to find 44-year-old Robert Ramirez, Sr. and 22-year-old Robert Ramirez, Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police say both men were shot while they were outside of the home.

Both victims were taken to UMC where Robert Ramirez, Sr. later died. Police say Robert Ramirez, Jr. remains in the hospital with moderate injuries.

This makes the tenth murder this year in Lubbock.

Police say they are searching for two suspects, described as black males, possibly driving a Dodge Magnum. One of the suspects is said to be 5'6 to 5'8 with shoulder-length dreadlocks.

There is now a reward of $5,000 being offered for information leading to the arrest of these suspects.
