If you're a woman and you've been worried about your health, or you've been putting off a screening that you know you should have, because you're worried about the cost...the Texas Tech School of Medicine is planning a free clinic for women with no private insurance.

"A lot of women are concerned about their possible risk for cervical cancer, or breast cancer, and a lot of women of course in the community, don't have the funds to be able to get that exam done, so we have an opportunity twice a year, April and October, and we have appointments for about 30 people, so we can offer them a pap smear, a pelvic and a breast exam," says Dr. Fiona Prahbu, with Texas Tech Physicians.

In addition, the clinic will provide free pregnancy testing, pertussis vaccinations which are advised now to protect adults against infecting little ones with whooping cough,
and also gardasil shots to help prevent cervical cancer.

The clinic will be held Saturday, October 4th, at Lubbock Impact, which is located at 2702 34th st. It will begin at 11 o'clock in the morning, and end at three o'clock in the afternoon. You do need to make an appointment. To do so, just call 337-2098, or email freeclinic@ttuhsc.edu.

But call for your appointment soon...since there are only 30 spots available.
