Xcel Energy worker shocked at Plainview substation in critical condition

PLAINVIEW, TX (KCBD) - UMC officials say an Xcel Energy employee who was shocked while working at a Plainview substation is in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.

Xcel Energy representative Wes Reeves says the Thursday afternoon power outage that knocked out power to 4,600 people in Plainview was caused by a contract worker who was shocked while working at a substation.

The worker was flown to Lubbock for treatment.

The outage was reported at 4:12 p.m. Power was restored at 4:45 p.m.

The Plainview Daily Herald says the worker was shocked while working at the substation at 24th and Date on the east side of town.

"This is distressing to all of us, and our thoughts and prayers are with the injured line worker," Reeves said.
