Police have arrested three suspects in an attempted copper burglary at the Omni Building in Downtown Lubbock.
Police say just after 9:10 a.m. Monday they responded to break-in call from the City Facilities Department at the Omni Building in the 1200 block of 14th Street.
When officers arrived, they found that someone had entered the parking garage through a fence with a vehicle and trailer. Then, gained entry into the building through a door that had been welded shut in the parking garage.
Police say extensive damage was caused to the electrical boxes in the basement of the building and a large amount of copper wire, other copper items and brass material was piled at the door ready to be moved.
A large amount of power and hand tools and a stolen trailer from Harris County were also left at the scene.
LP&L was called to assess the electrical damage.
After investigating, the Property Crimes and Special Operations departments were able to arrest 40-year-old Sandra Kay Phillips, 41-year-old Robin Baxter and 38-year-old Harold Joseph Natale. All three suspects are from Houston and all have a $100,000 bond each for criminal mischief.
Phillips is also charged with organized crime, theft and speeding. Baxter is charged with organized crime and theft. Natale faces charges of organized crime, theft and tampering with evidence.
All have been booked at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
