LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Lubbock County Medical Examiner's Office has released the name of the Lowe's Home Improvement employee who died after a stack of lumber fell last Friday morning.

The employee has been identified as a 23-year-old Rudy Trevino.

Heavy rescue equipment was called to the scene at 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 2.

Lowe's corporate office sent this statement later that afternoon:

We are saddened by the loss of a member of our Lowe's family in an accident at the Lowe's of Lubbock, Texas, today, and our thoughts are with all those affected.

An internal investigation is being conducted. It is routine for OSHA to conduct an investigation into the cause of an incident such as this and we are cooperating with them.

Grief Counselors are being sent to the store to support our employees. The store closed today at 2 p.m. and plans are for the store to reopen at 6 a.m. Saturday. When the store reopens, employees from neighboring Lowe's stores will be staffing the store at that time.

We are working to get more details on the investigation and will keep you updated on air and online as soon as we learn more.
