BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) - Authorities have confirmed that one person has died in a crash involving two semis and a pickup on Highway 62/82 just north of Brownfield.

Officials say 58-year-old Robert Melvin, of Lubbock, was driving a JP Liquid semi that was carrying propane. The semi exploded in a collision involving a TransAm Trucking semi and a black Chevrolet pickup.

Melvin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the black pickup, 23-year-old Aaron Foshee of Brownfield, is in critical condition at the UMC Burn Center.

The driver of the TransAm semi was not injured. The Wolfforth hazmat team has been working to clean up the propane leaking from the semi and was finally able to detach the propane tank from the remains of the semi early Thursday evening.

JP Energy released this statement on Thursday afternoon:

"On behalf of everyone at JP Energy, we are saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague in this tragic accident.
