At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Friday, May 29th, a patrol officer responded to a fight in progress at Maxey Park, located at 4102 24th Street.

A City of Lubbock Marshal also responded and was first on the scene. The Marshall attempted to break up the fight and was assaulted by one suspect.

LPD officers arrived and attempted to take that suspect into custody when he turned on the LPD officer striking him several time in the face with a closed fist.

A second officer arrived and assisted in taking the suspect into custody. He was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Facility and booked in.

The officer was transported to UMC with minor injuries and was later released.
