DAWSON COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - 13 head of cattle died when a semi overturned on U.S. Highway 87 north of Lamesa on Tuesday afternoon. Dawson County Sheriff Kent Parchman told the
that the truck driver was treated and released from Medical Arts Hospital.
Parchman says 12 cattle died in the accident, and one had to be put down later. The remaining 59 cattle were temporarily penned on the highway until they could be relocated to a nearby ranch. The incident closed the southbound lanes of Highway 87 for approximately 5-6 hours.
Caleb Durham shared video of the accident on our
