LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Hillcrest Country Club Head Tennis Pro Kathy Vick knows first hand what it's like to represent the United States in international competition.

Vick just returned from France where she competed in the Senior World Team Tennis Championships.

Only 4 Americans are selected by the USTA to represent the United States in competition. Vick competed in the 50-65 age group and entered the competition unseeded.  Before being eliminated in the semifinal by the #1 seed from Great Britain, Vick defeated the 8,9 and 4 seeds in the singles competition. After returning to the U.S., Vick said she was honored to be selected and she played great tennis.

"I had no pressure and I was unseeded so i went out there and played hard, "Vick said, "It is quite an honor. They have an opening ceremony and closing ceremony and you're wearing your warm ups and carrying the flag. It's really special."

Vick returned with a medal and hopes to continue competing for the United States on the International level. As a side note,Kathy is the husband of former Lubbock High Head Basketball Coach Ron Vick.
