LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety are investigating a methamphetamine seizure last week in the Hockley County Jail.

Sources tell KCBD that as much as 150 grams of methamphetamine was seized in several different incidents last week.

Hockley County Sheriff R.C. Cheek told KCBD that he referred the investigation to the Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety. The Sheriff said that at this time he is not certain how the illegal drugs made their way into the jail and that no employees have been arrested or suspended pending the results of the Rangers' investigation.

Sheriff Cheek says he has observed a large increase in methamphetamine traffic in the region.

KCBD will bring you more on the story as it develops.
