LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Athletics Department announced a merchandising partnership with The Matador, the new official game day store for Texas Tech Athletics. Under the new agreement, The Matador will retail licensed Texas Tech merchandise at athletic events, including Jones AT&T Stadium, United Supermarkets Arena and Dan Law Field.

"We are excited to announce this new partnership with The Matador," Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. "We are happy to partner with a local vendor who knows and understands Texas Tech University."

The Matador is a local retailer currently at the corner of Broadway and University Avenues and located directly across from Texas Tech University. It specializes in Texas Tech attire and gifts including Under Armour apparel, the official brand of Texas Tech. The Matador also opened a new location on Friday at 98th and Quaker, in the Lakeridge Commons Shopping Center.

Owned and operated by Steve and Stephanie Massengale, The Matador has supported Red Raider Nation with licensed apparel for over 20 years, dating back to when the Lady Raiders claimed the NCAA title in 1993. The couple also owns Advanced Graphix, a promotional products firm that is a licensed manufacturer for Texas Tech.

"We are so honored to be partnered with Texas Tech Athletics," Steve Massengale said. "Fans will appreciate the shopping experience inside the athletic venues compared to the past. Our goal is to provide great product selection with an efficient checkout process to get you back to the game. Our partnership with Texas Tech Athletics and Under Armour will bring more new and exclusive products to Red Raiders fans."
