Andrews shooting victim transported to UMC

ANDREWS, TX (KCBD) - A victim was shot multiple times and a suspect is now in custody after a shooting near the Andrews Country Club on 930 Golf Course in Andrews, TX.

The Andrews Country news is reporting that the suspect, 37-year-old Pedro Franco Jr., was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say the shooting began with an argument that started inside a Ford sedan. The victim was shot while sitting in the vehicle.

The suspected shooter, Franco, then ran from the vehicle and was detained by authorities a short distance from the shooting scene, according to police.

"Quick response by the Andrews Police and Andrews Sheriff's deputies led to the quick arrest of the suspect," Andrews Police Chief Bud Jones said.

A pistol believed to be used by the suspect was recovered, according to police.

The victim was airlifted to UMC in Lubbock. His name and condition have not yet been released.
