LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Littlefield man accused of injuring a Lubbock Police officer in July will not have his bond reduced.

Attorneys for Jose Escarcega requested the reduction on Friday, saying the amount was unreasonable. After reviewing evidence submitted, the judge denied the request on Thursday. He then set a trial date for December 7.

Escarcega is remains locked up at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond. Back in July, Lubbock Police Officer Ryan Durrett stopped at 19th Street and Iola Avenue to help Escarcega.

Durrett thought he was helping a stranded driver, but at one point, Escarcega jumped into Durrett's SUV and crashed it into a pole while was Durrett hanging on to the side of the vehicle.

Both men were injured, but are out of the hospital now.
