LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - We have new details on the reassignment of the Lubbock Assistant Police Chief who oversaw the Mark Ysasaga murder investigation. As we first told you in June, the department moved James Shavers from the detective division to patrol.

Former Chief Roger Ellis made the decision days after police released a statement addressing the Crime Line tip that led to Ysasaga's body, and the release of a person of interest in the case, Christian Castro.

Now, we've learned that Shavers has also been demoted. A memo dated August 29th from current Police Chief Greg Stevens states that Shavers would be removed from his Assistant Chief position and reinstated as Captain effective August 29th. The change also includes an annual salary cut of nearly $22,000.
