LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police continue to search for answers after a 15-year-old boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday night.

It happened in the 2900 block of Beech Avenue.

Officers are still searching for the suspect as of Thursday.

Officers began canvassing the neighborhood early Thursday morning as neighbors continue to wait for answers.

"He didn't mess with nobody," one witness said.

The scene was described as "chaos" when Lubbock police arrived Wednesday    night.

One witness said it sounded like the shooter unloaded the whole gun on him.

Another says she tried to offer help.

"We heard somebody holler help me," the witness said. "I came and helped him - I grabbed a pillow to press on him."

Police say the incident involved two groups of people.

The first group was standing in the front yard, and the second in a car that drove up.

Shots were allegedly fired from both parties.

"We don't know if there is any gang affiliation at this time," Lt. Ray Mendoza said. "We don't know what their motive was. There is still a lot of investigation to do."

As the investigation continues, neighbors pray the young boy will make it through.

Mendoza said the next step is continuing to search for the suspect involved in the shooting.

The victim's name has not been released to the public. He remains hospitalized at UMC.
