Filmmaker highlights the mass kidnapping of 43 college students
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Charlie Minn considers it the saddest story in the world today, that deserves more attention.
Flimmaker Charlie Minn is in Lubbock this week as his latest documentary "43" is set to hit theaters.
He says in the past seven years the violence in Mexico has led to the deaths of more than 135,000 people, most of whom are innocent.
The movie "43" examines the 2014 mass kidnapping of 43 innocent college students who were studying to be teachers.
"And we're not exactly sure what happened to them. This crime has received the most attention of any in Mexico in the 21st century, because these were 43 innocent students. If they were cartel members nobody would have cared."
"43" will screen in the basement of the Texas Tech English building Wednesday October 21, at 6 p.m.
The showing is free for the first 200 people.
The film will then open October 23, for at least a one week showing at Premiere Cinema.
