LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock National Adoption was held at the Lubbock County Courthouse Monday Morning.

22 families underwent years-long vetting processes and today, adoptions for 38 children were finalized.

CPS workers dressed as Disney characters and each child were gifted with teddy bears to "adopt."

Some families adopted the children of extended family members, as is the case with the Conners.

They adopted their two grandchildren, 7 year old Riley and 2 year old Zaniyah. The girls have been with them since late 2013.

"I am very happy," said Riley. "Today is the day I get new parents. I am so excited."
