San Antonio high school football coach sentenced in referee attack

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A former San Antonio high school assistant coach, who was charged with assault after two John Jay High School football players blindsided a referee during a September football game has been sentenced.

Mack Breed pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge Monday and a judge sentenced him to 12 months in jail and at $3500 fine. But the sentence was suspended and Breed was placed on 18 months probation, a fine and community service.

Breed also must pay restitution to the referee, Robert Watts, and give up his teaching certificate.
