LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) - According to officials at Lamb County Electric Cooperative of Littlefield, the city is experiencing power outages in approximately 300 homes due to extreme weather conditions.

Outages began around 8:30 Saturday night.

Crews have been working round the clock to restore electricity and repair damage to equipment such as downed wires and broken poles.

They say the outage is due to high winds, blowing snow and ice, and low temperatures.

Each repair truck is being pulled behind maintainers and tractors to ensure they reach homes through the snow.

According to the company, snow drifts are as high as 5 feet deep.

The office is normally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but it will remain open Sunday till power is restored to all affected homes.

The co-op released this statement:

"We appreciate the patience and understanding of our members as we work round the clock to restore electricity as quickly as possible."

The office can be reached at 806-385-5191
