Major Texas roads closed due to hazardous travel conditions

Round two of a major winter storm has made its way into the South Plains.

Travel is strongly discouraged with potentially hazardous conditions of limited visibility, white-outs, and snow and snow drifts on the roadway.

Travel conditions will not improve overnight, and roadways may become impassable as the storm continues and motorists should not attempt to drive in these conditions.

Drifting snow has made several roads impassable and they have been closed to traffic:

Here is a recap of the Lubbock District roadways that are currently closed. US 70/84 in Bailey County has recently been closed since our last update. Motorists should not attempt to travel on these roadways:

US82/380 from Plains to Brownfield
US 385 from Levelland to Brownfield
SH 137 from US 385 to US 82/380
US 385 from Andrews County Line to Seminole
US 62 from New Mexico State Line to Seagraves
US 180 from Seminole to Lamesa
SH 214 from Seminole to Plains
US 70/84 from New Mexico State Line to Muleshoe
US 380 from New Mexico State Line to Plains
US 62 from New Mexico State Line to Plains
Other roadways may become impassable overnight. All travel is discouraged is until conditions improve.
