BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) - For the first time ever, Brownfield High School has not one, but two Caprock Classic Tournament champions.
The girl's team paved the way with a 45-41 win over the Lubbock Titans on Thursday afternoon.
The boy's team, who won the Caprock tournament last year, came in with the clean sweep in the next game by defeating Lubbock Christian High School 90-68.
"Just to have both of us here in the championship is exciting for the whole school," says first year girl's head coach Clay Stout.
The boy's team followed the girl's act, with an impressive performance against a strong and big Lubbock Christian team, but boy's head coach Dustin Faught says this is just the beginning for the Brownfield boys.
"Really, we are just 2, 3 games from starting district play. So we need to be playing some of our best basketball right now," Faught says. "For us to win like this back-to-back it's something really special for our kids and for our community."
