LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A woman accused of lying to police about an alleged robbery in southwest Lubbock is now facing a felony charge.  A Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted Briana Rainwater, 25 on Tuesday for theft between $2,500-$30,000.

Police responded to the Wells Fargo on 82nd Street near Slide Road on December 19th.  Rainwater told police that two men armed with a gun got into her car as she waited in the drive-thru line to make a business deposit.

Rainwater claimed the men forced her to drive to a near-by playa lake where they assaulted her and took the deposit bag.

Detectives say through evidence and a Crime Line tip they determined she made up the story.  Authorities say video of the area did not support her version of the story, and after the alleged incident, Rainwater reportedly put down more than a $1,000 for a new car.

Police arrested Rainwater on December 23rd; she has since bonded out of jail.
