Voters to select new Sheriff, Pct. 1 Commissioner in Lynn County

LYNN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) - Lynn County Sheriff Jerry Franklin is not seeking re-election in 2016.

Two candidates are seeking to fill the seat.  Abraham Vega is the Chief Deputy for the Lynn County Sheriff's Office, and Albert Flores is a Deputy for the Lynn County Sheriff's Office.  Vega and Flores will face off in the Republican Primary in March.

Lynn County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Keith Weid is also not seeking re-election.

Glenn Heinrich and Matt Woodley both running for the position.  They will compete in the March 1st Primary.

Another contest race in Lynn County is for District Attorney in the 106th Judicial District which serves Dawson, Gaines, Garza, and Lynn Counties.  Incumbent Michael Munk faces challengers Roxanne Cox and Philip Mack Furlow.

To vote in the Primary, voters must be registered by February 1st.  Early voting runs from February 16 to the 26th.
